Tom Benedict

Prior to joining Layer-Eight, Mr. Benedict was Vice President for Asset Channels, Inc., a telecommunications company installing a fiber optic sub-sea system from Boston to Miami. Previously Mr. Benedict was Managing Vice President at Partner Communications Group, a Connecticut CLEC and consulting group, where Asset Channels was one of his clients. He was Senior Vice President at Gorham, Gold, Greenwich and Associates, a utility strategic consulting group in Overland Park, KS. He was a Commissioner at the Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control (DPUC) from 1992-1997, serving as the primary Commissioner charged with introducing competition into Connecticut and the Southern New England Telephone (SNET) territory. He was a founder, Chairman and Director of BioPolymers, Inc., a biotechnology development company from 1984-1990. He is a veteran of the United States Navy Nuclear Submarine Service. Mr. Benedict received his BS degree from Excelsior College of the University of the State of New York.
