Greg Pellerin

Greg Pellerin brings a unique blend of complex sales proficiency and technical operational expertise to the Layer Eight team. With an advanced degree in physics, Greg began his career working for international geotechnical testing and environmental engineering firms. In 1997 Greg moved into telecommunications as an account executive for Brooks Fiber Communications. As one of the top performers at Brooks, Greg was recruited by Javanet, one of the first regional ISPs in the country, as its Director of Commercial Sales. In this entrepreneurial environment Greg not only more than tripled run-rate revenue in less than a year, but also became proficient with packet switched networks, LAN and WAN configurations, circuit provisioning and trouble shooting techniques, router configurations, and DNS syntax & protocols. When Javanet was sold to RCN in 1999, Greg was promoted to Director of Commercial Services (voice and data) responsible for creating and maintaining national sales engineering and provisioning support teams. Over time, this position grew to include virtually all aspects of pre-sales support (i.e. sales engineering, training, hardware/cpe selection, etc.) and post-sales order delivery (i.e. Order Management systems, provisioning methods and procedures, etc.) for an organization processing over 10,000 orders a year. In 2001, Greg joined a team of RCN managers hired to transform Connecticut Telephone, a Hartford-based CLEC, from a pure reseller of services to a facilities based provider of business telecommunications services. As Connecticut Telephone’s Director of Service Delivery Greg reduced personnel in his department by 33% with no corresponding decrease in service levels. In fact, by implementing measurable service metrics, he was able to reduce provisioning errors (and associated call volume) by more than 30%. Following the launch of the company’s statewide data network, Greg became responsible for sales engineering in addition to coordinating all aspects for provisioning Broadband services, including IP inventory control, network asset reservation, DNS and Hosting services, and UNE loop delivery.
